The Classroom Speakers Program includes local business and community volunteers who are willing to share their expertise with students in the classroom. The purpose of the program is two-fold; speakers bring relevance to a particular topic, helping students understand the connection between the curriculum and the real-world of work. A second goal is to provide teachers with additional curriculum-related resource expertise.
Greater Winston-Salem, Inc., in partnership with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, recruits volunteers and maintains a database of community volunteers willing to make virtual or in-person presentations. The database is updated regularly as new speakers are recruited.
Teachers may request the list of available speakers, decide which topics fit their curriculum, and then contact the volunteer to arrange for a presentation on a given topic.
