Winston-Salem-based Tar Heel Basement Systems has been honored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in its 2015 Blue Ribbon Small Business Awards.
The awards honor 100 firms nationwide “for their success and innovation and for their contributions to economic growth and free enterprise,” according to a press release.
Entries were evaluated in four key areas: strategic planning, employee development, community involvement and customer service.
Tar Heel Basement Systems has made the Triad Business Journal’s Fast 50 list of the region’s fastest-growing private companies each of the past two years, ranking No. 16 last year and No. 33 in 2013. Our September 2014 profile of the firm noted that it had 52 employees and provided basement waterproofing, structural repair, radon mitigation and crawl space encapsulation.
“While our economy still struggles to reach its full potential, small businesses like our Blue Ribbon Award winners have continued to act as examples of the resilience, ingenuity, and opportunity at work in the free enterprise system,” U.S. Chamber CEO Thomas Donohue said in the release. “Times can be tough, but these businesses have proven that they can be too. And by taking risks, watching out for their employees, and giving back to their communities, they’ve shown that success is achievable.”
Tar Heel Basement Systems, which was founded in 2003, was also a Blue Ribbon Small Business Awards winner last year.
Seven regional finalists will be announced on March 18, and an overall winner will be announced at the 11th annual America’s Small Business Summit, according to the U.S. Chamber release. The summit will be held June 8-10 in Washington, D.C.
The only other North Carolina company to be named a Blue Ribbon Small Business Awards winner this year was Triangle Rock Club of Morrisville.
