A nonwoven textiles company with an existing location in Winston-Salem is announcing a local expansion. Polyvlies USA currently operates a textile manufacturing facility on Business Park Drive. To support growth in the North American market, the company has announced the purchase of a nearby greenfield site to facilitate a company expansion.
Polyvlies is a global leader in needle punched nonwoven fabrics with a variety of innovative product lines. As it plans for continued growth in the US, the company has selected an available site in Union Cross Business Park for a new facility. The project will generate 28 new jobs and $31 million in capital investment over five years.
“Winston-Salem has been an excellent home for our North American operations since 2014, providing the business climate, workforce, and infrastructure that allow us to grow. Our expansion at Union Cross Business Park is a testament to the confidence we have in this region and its ability to support our needs now and in the future,” says Axel Hinrichs, CEO of Polyvlies USA.
“We are proud to support Polyvlies USA’s continued investment in our community,” says Mark Owens, President and CEO of Greater Winston-Salem Inc. “Our region has a rich history of manufacturing which continues to evolve and thrive today. This remains a top industry of focus for us in supporting talent and workforce initiatives to supply employment growth and attract and retain employers.”
Polyvlies has grown from a family-owned company established in Germany more than 170 years ago. Today it employs about 500 people and operates at several locations in Europe as well as in Winston-Salem. The company produces material for the automotive, geotextiles, agricultural, and construction industries.
“Polyvlies USA’s expansion underscores Winston-Salem’s reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing. Our city offers the resources, workforce, and business climate that companies need to thrive, and we are proud to support Polyvlies’ continued success here,” says Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines.
“This expansion is a strong indicator of Forsyth County’s ability to attract and retain global manufacturers. We are committed to supporting the development of a skilled workforce and prime industrial sites so that our County is well-positioned to support companies like Polyvlies USA as they grow,” says Forsyth County Commissioner Don Martin.
Polyvlies USA was supported by the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), Forsyth County, the City of Winston-Salem, and Greater Winston-Salem Inc. to facilitate this project.
