Local cybersecurity company Threat Sketch and Winston Starts are teaming up to launch the North Carolina Center for Cybersecurity (NCCC). It is a first-of-its-kind initiative that aims to increase commerce in North Carolina and within the Piedmont Triad through cybersecurity involving public, private, and academic collaboration. Education and application of practices will allow businesses to deliver secure-by-design products through a well-protected supply chain, giving our state’s companies a desired advantage in the global market. The NCCC will allow companies to do business online more safely and provide an advantage for North Carolina companies in the global market.

Daniel Kroese, the Senior Advisor for the Cybersecurity Division of the Department of Homeland Security will be a guest speaker at the ribbon cutting, describing the need for community-based cybersecurity initiatives, like the NCCC, to help mitigate systemic risks to our national economy. Other speakers and supporters in attendance will include North Carolina Chief Risk Officer Maria Thompson, Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines, Mark Owens, President of the Winston Salem Chamber of Commerce and a representative from the office of Richard Burr.
