Health care system opens 28 clinics and adds 67 physicians in 2019

Novant Health announced its physician and clinic growth for 2019 in the greater Winston-Salem market. Within the past 12 months, the health care system opened 28 clinics and added 67 physicians. The new clinics include 20 startups, four of which were joint ventures with GoHealth, and 8 satellite locations. A total of 77 clinics and 206 physicians were added across the health care system.

“Prioritizing access and convenience for the communities we serve is central to our mission,” said Chad Setliff, president and chief operating officer of Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center and Novant Health’s greater Winston-Salem market. “Our 2019 growth certainly included expansion of access through new locations, but the growth of expertise behind our walls, although less visible, is equally important for our patients. Our Cancer Institute expanded hematology services and launched a stem cell transplant program. Our Women’s Institute revitalized our maternal-fetal medicine care and opened the region’s only obstetric emergency department. Looking ahead, we’ll continue to evaluate growth and innovation opportunities such as virtual health as strategies to enhance the overall patience experience.”

Of the 67 physicians who joined Novant Health in 2019, 10 were hospital-based medicine internists. The Novant Health Community Health & Wellness Institute saw the most growth with 17 physicians joining clinics across the market, in addition to:
