The Triad Business Journal Honors Winston-Salem Dash President, Chamber Board Member
The Triad Business Journal has recognized Dash team president C.J. Johnson as an honoree of their annual 40 Under 40 List, which highlights the “brightest young stars in a variety of professions” in the local area from the age range between 21 to 40 years old.
In Johnson’s first year at the helm, the Dash were selected as the Freitas Award winner by Baseball America as the top organization among 60 Class A teams, marking the first time Winston-Salem won this award. The Dash also earned an Honorable Mention from Ballpark Digest for the 2018 Team of the Year award.
“It is an honor to be recognized for this award by the Triad Business Journal,” said Johnson. “The honorees this year are amazing leaders in our community, and I am humbled to be included in such a select group of accomplished individuals.”
Johnson has been integral in helping the Dash become one of the most widely respected franchises in Minor League Baseball. During his six years as Vice President of Ticket Sales, the Dash finished either first or second out of all 30 Class A-Advanced teams. This past year, the Dash topped High-A baseball in attendance by bringing 292,774 fans out to BB&T Ballpark.
Johnson’s community involvement is not limited to the Dash. Despite working over 100 baseball games and events throughout the year, Johnson serves on multiple boards, including the Winston Salem Chamber, Winston Salem Chamber Under 40, Peters Creek Parkway Community Initiative, Creative Corridors and the Bethesda Center.
Prior to joining the Dash, Johnson worked in the business development department for the Trenton Thunder, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate. A graduate of West Virginia University in 2003, Johnson also worked several years with the Hagerstown Suns, working his way up from an internship position to assistant general manager.
